Gentian Developments buys £2.4m retail unit in Winchester
With investments across the UK, Winchester-based Gentian Developments has completed the purchase of a prominent retail unit on Winchester High Street. The property was purchased by Gentian for £2.35 million as part of its ongoing investment into Winchester’s retail offering.
Previously home to Laura Ashley, 126 High Street is a 6,500 sq ft building currently entirely occupied by outdoor clothing and equipment brand, Mountain Warehouse, that has leased the premises until 2031.
Gentian’s Winchester retail property portfolio also includes 46 High Street, currently leased to Seasalt and 7-8 High Street which is currently leased to Closs & Hamblin and Rick Stein Seafood Restaurant.
The company is betting on Winchester bucking the national trend and continuing to be a desirable retail destination. Director of Gentian Developments, Nick Hanson, said: “We are continuing our investment into Winchester and its future. As a local developer and investor, we want to ensure that these historic buildings in our portfolio remain attractive focal points on our High Street.”
