West Sussex: Bartholomews appoints company secretary and group legal counsel
Chichester-based agricultural business and Solent 250 company Bartholomews (Holdings) has appointed the Legal 500-recommended Tim Gleeson as its new company secretary and group legal counsel.
Bartholomews services the agricultural sector across the south, providing a full range of inputs and advice as well as a crop marketing service that sees crops harvested in the region traded both nationally and internationally. In turn group company Ultimate Fertilizers is importing and bagging raw materials in Southampton Docks to be supplied in the Solent and beyond.
Gleeson, who was described in the latest edition of Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as 'astute and capable', is excited at the opportunity of joining Bartholomews’ team, commenting: “Despite the size and complexity of its activities, Bartholomews remains a family-owned company determined to offer a quality service to its customers.
"We are always looking for opportunities to invest and to grow the business in the future. At present we are renewing our grain storage and export facility in Shoreham which is the largest facility of its kind on the south coast.”
Among the group’s companies are Bartholomews Specialist Distribution and Churchill Freight Services, whose transport business supports the operation of the other group companies.
Bartholomews sat in 17th place in the latest Solent 250 listing positioning, and it is one of the region’s largest companies with bases in Chichester, Eastleigh, Shoreham, Southampton and in East Sussex.
