Thames Valley: Chantrey Vellacott event supports charities facing new regulations
Local charities facing new accounting regulations have the opportunity of attending a free seminar addressing these changes. The event, taking place in Reading on October 7, is hosted by accountancy firm Chantrey Vellacott, which acts for charities ranging from major international operations to small local organisations.
The Charity Commission has published two new charity Statements of Recommended Practice (SORPs) – FRS 102 and FRSSE – which will change the way charities report their activities, effective for accounting periods beginning on or after January 1, 2015. The seminar will focus on the new accounting and reporting framework and explain some of the practical implications of the proposed changes.
Bill Devitt, Chantrey Vellacott’s head of charities, is looking forward to welcoming charities to the session and helping them with the crucial details the new SORPs require.
“These changes have considerable implications for charities and they need to be up to speed ahead of their implementation at the end of the year,” he said.
“The seminar is a chance for charities to receive advice on the new guidelines, which can be fairly tricky to navigate.
“Addressing the forthcoming changes now will help ensure a smooth transition and our charity experts will be on hand to offer the best advice.”
The seminar will take place at Chantrey Vellacott’s office based on Queens Road, RG1 4RP, and will begin at 8.30am for breakfast and registration.
