Thames Valley: Gateley and Osborne Clarke's Rob Wood win top legal trophies
Gateley plc, the AIM-listed law firm which opened an office in Reading two years ago, won Law Firm of the Year in the Thames Valley Deals Awards last night.
Judges said that Gateley should be applauded for making a significant impact in the Thames Valley, from pretty much a standing start.
With over £130 million in deals, Gateley’s team in Reading has grown rapidly from the inception of the office in early 2016. The team has acted for PE buyers on their new transactions; corporate acquirers; and business owners selling their companies. Prominent deals included Act Clean, Teamsport, Powerpax, Charles Lucas & Marshall/Coffin Mew, and MyPolicy.
Rob Wood of Osborne Clarke was the winner of Lawyer of the Year.
Wood has not only acted as head of the Thames Valley office, he has been active on the deal front in 2017. Described as ‘one of the best operators around’, he advised BGF on its £10m investment in Roc Technologies; acted for LDC and the selling shareholders on the sale of Clifford Thames Group; and acted for Davies Group on numerous acquisitions; and advised on the exit of Infracast.
