Thames Valley: Royal Borough appoints new managing director
The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead has appointed Alison Alexander as its new managing director and head of paid service. The appointment was verified by full council and she began in her new role on July 29.
Alexander has worked at the Royal Borough as director of children’s services since June 2013, and before that at Southampton City Council as the deputy director of children’s services.
She has an MBA, diplomas in psychology counselling, higher education and youth and community, and various professional and management qualifications.
She will retain her existing portfolio as strategic director of children’s services and will continue to be responsible for delivering against associated strategic objectives. The additional duties are supplementary to her current role.
She said: “I’m pleased to have been given the opportunity to take on the wider role of managing director for the council.
“It will be challenging and, as always, there will be much to learn but it’s fantastic to have the chance to work more closely with elected members and my director colleagues to make a big difference for the lives of residents in the borough.”
Cllr David Burbage, leader of the council, said: “Alison’s passion for public service, determination to make a difference and her focus on delivering excellent services for our residents make her an ideal appointment as our new managing director.”
